چکیده
Satellites have generated extensive data of remote sensing reflectance spectra (Rrs(?)) covering diverse water classes or types across global waters. Spectral classification satellite Rrs(?) allows for the distinguishing and grouping waters with characteristic bio-optical/biogeochemical features that may influence productivity a given body. This study reports new class products (Level-2 Level-3) from Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS). We developed implemented hyperspectral scheme accounts spectral shapes globally resolves oceanic, coastal, inland into 23 classes. characterized light absorption scattering coefficients, chlorophyll-a concentration, diffuse attenuation coefficient, suspended particulate matter individual It is shown are separable by their distinct bio-optical biogeochemical properties. Furthermore, validation result suggests VIIRS accurate globally. Finally, we examined spatial temporal variability in case studies demonstration applications. The open oceans reveal subtropical ocean gyres experienced dramatic expansion over last decade. In addition, appear to be valuable (and qualitative) indicator quality coastal compelling evidence. stress this product an excellent addition aquatic science database, despite need continuous improvement toward perfection.

Inland Water Bodies Monitoring Using Satellite Altimetry over Indian Region
Satellite altimetry for inland water applications has evolved from investigation of water height retrieval to monitoring since last two decades. Altimetry derived reservoir/ river levels can subsequently be used to deal with key inland water resources problems such as flood, rating curve generation for remote locations, reservoir operations, and calibration of river/lake models. In this work 29...
متن کاملDemonstrating Landsat’s New Potential to Monitor Coastal and Inland Waters
The Operational Land Imager (OLI) is a new Landsat sensor being developed by the joint USGS-NASA Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM) that exhibits the potential to be a state-of-the-art instrument for studying inland and coastal waters. With upgrades such as a new Coastal Aerosol band, 12 bit quantization, and improved signal-to-noise, OLI will be spectrally and radiometrically superior to i...

Article history: Received 4 October 2007 Received in revised form 4 February 2008 Accepted 9 February 2008 Two algorithms designed to detect deepwater oceanic features and arbitrary edge profiles were tuned to automatically delineate fronts in coastal waters off west–central Florida using satellite-derived sea surface temperature (SST), chlorophyll-a concentration (Chl), normalized water-leavin...
متن کاملWater Quality in Coastal Waters
The aim of this work is to introduce the potential of satellite-based remote sensing data to agencies responsible for monitoring and managing water quality in the coastal zone of Western Australia. There exists a knowledge and/or expertise gap between satellite data providers and potential end users. This project aims to close the gap by developing a fundamental management tool that will be geo...
متن کاملQualitative Assessment of Inland and Coastal Waters by Using Remotely Sensed Data
The prime purpose of the research study was to elucidate the potential of remotely sensed data for estimation of water quality parameters (WQPs) in inland and coastal waters. The useful application of remotely sensed data for operational monitoring of water bodies demand for improved algorithms and methodology. The in situ hyperspectral Spectroradiometer data, water quality data and Airborne Im...
